In our dining room, there was a small hole in the floorboards.
I had to lift the boards one day, and in the dust beneath the hole were these eight random objects. Two mother of pearl buttons, a 'five-stone', a dolls head and four 'jacks' (or marbles).
Our house was built in 1897 for Sarah Ann Bell, her husband John Bell, and their nine children, some of whom, it appears, lost a few of their toys.
